Presentation of Ailimpo
AILIMPO, the Lemon and Grapefruit Interprofessional Association, is founded as an organisation that brings together representatives of the economic activities linked to the production, trade and processing of lemons and grapefruits in Spain with the aim of achieving a better structuring of the sector and defending its general interests in such a way as to facilitate contact and cohesion between the producers, traders, exporters and processors of lemons and grapefruits in Spain. The history of this interprofessional organisation is the result of the efforts, concerns and vision of people who have been working to promote these 2 citrus products which, until now, have been included generically in the citrus fruit group but which are characterised by production, marketing and consumption realities which are quite diff
Foundation, recognition and composition
AILIMPO, is founded as a legal entity in Murcia on August 5th 1998. Once all the requirements established in the current regulations have been met and having been favourably informed by unanimity in the General Council of Interprofessional Agri-food Organisations, AILIMPO is recognised as an Interprofessional Agri-food Organisation (OIA) by means of a Ministerial Order dated 27th November 1998. Subsequently, on 18th March 1999, the Ministerial Order was published by which ALIMPO was recognised as an Interprofessional Organisation in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EC) nº2,200/96.
This concludes the formal procedures relating to its constitution and official recognition by the various administrations. It is from this moment on that AILIMPO becomes an entity of obligatory consultation and collaboration with the three Agricultural Administrations: that of the European Union, that of Spain and that of the Autonomous Communities of Andalusia, Murcia and Valencia.
